5 Non fiction Christian Books to Read This Fall

If you had asked me in my early 20s what my favorite non fiction book was I might have laughed. Minus history, non fiction wasn’t something that I cared to read. Perhaps it was holdover for all those years in school. Whatever the case, in recent years I have found non fiction finding a special place in my heart and my bookcase.

1. Where God Came Down by Joel P Kramer

If you haven’t already seen Expedition Bible on Youtube I highly suggest you look it up. Where God Came Down shows the archeological evidence of biblical text. Did you know evidence of the very trees mentioned in Genesis 13:18 and the alter can be found at Mamre?

2. Mama Bear Apologetics by Hillary Morgan Ferrer

If you are wanting to know more about what is influencing our culture and our children, Mama Bear Apologetics is a great place to start. Covering topics from Naturalism to moral relativism, Mama Bear Apologetics takes a look at “Lies You Have Probably Heard, But Didn’t Know What They Were Called.” Whether you have children, are thinking of having children, or have children in your life, this book is worth reading. You might be surprised at what you learn.

3. The “Be” Commentary Series By Warren W Weirsbe

If you are new to Bible commentary Warren W Wiersbe is a great place to start, especially if you are trying to understand the books of the Law. It can be easy to gloss over the different sacrifice requirements for the Jews in the Old Testament. However if you take a closer look you will see the symbolism and how it points to Christ.

4. Fathered By God by John Eldredge

Written by a man, for men, this book is a valuable insight into the heart of men. If you are a mother to boys, or looking to understand the men in your life, I highly recommend this book. From boyhood to sage, the journey of a man is anything but boring. This is also a great audio book option. John Eldridges voice invites you to a place of peace and rest.

5. Good Boundaries and Goodbyes by Lisa Terkeurst

I have read many boundary books, but this one might just be my favorite. It focuses on all relationships, be that family members, spouse, friends or those you work with. Learning to distinguishing the difference between difficult and destructive (abusive) relationships. Looking deeper into what the Bible has to say about boundaries. Or answering questions like “Is it unloving or selfish to set a boundary?” Having shared this with many friends it soon came apparent that we all struggle with boundaries in different areas. It has been helpful in distinguishing what those are and how to best love and serve others.
