The Extraordinarily Life Of Mrs Kip had a title too intriguing for me to pass up. Having recently read multiple Christy Award winning books that were rather disapointing in storyline, faith, and talent, I was a bit reluctant to pick up another. The title kept coming back to haunt me and so I finally decided to give yet another nomination a shot.

I am so glad I did. The story refreshingly different. The contrast of Mrs. Kip, an elderly woman in her 70s on hospice and that of a young reporter in her 20s was beautifully written. Capturing both the energy and self centeredness of youth and the wisdom of age along with the reality of a failing body.

Few stories in my life have I wanted to buy multiple copies of to share with friends. This is one of those rare gems whose story reaches deeper into the heart. While it may not have the dashing adventure of some books, or the romance of others, The Extraordinary life of Mrs Kip brings to life a story that one can only find in the wisdom of a life lived in faith. A life transformed and lived in submission to God, and how he can use that to minister to others, no matter the circumstances. Even in the last few days we may have. It is about a life well lived! A life lived in submission to God and how he can use even the most ordinary of lives to accomplish his purpose.

I have read thousands of books in my life. The Extraordinary Life of Mrs Kip is one that will forever live on my shelf, to be visited again and again. This Christy Award was well deserved and in my opinion, the best Christian novel of 2023. Well done Sara Brunsvold!
